Big story: On their sixth try, the Predators finally broke through and made it to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but the Canucks are bidding to make their stay in the conference semifinals a short one. After the teams split a pair of one-goal games in Vancouver, the Canucks swept Games 3 and 4 in Nashville and stand poised to advance to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 1994 if they can prevail Saturday. Of course, they almost let a 3-0 lead slip away against the Blackhawks in the first round and the Predators have played them tight this entire series, so hopes of a comeback are legitimate.

Team Scope:

Predators: With the exception of a span of just under 11 minutes in Game 3, Nashville never held the lead in the last two games at Bridgestone Arena. As it stands, that was the only point in the series where the Predators have played up a goal -- they trailed Game 2 until the final minutes before tying the score and eventually winning in double overtime. They rallied from a pair of one-goal deficits Thursday on scores by Joel Ward and Cody Franson, but an ill-timed penalty by Ryan Suter led to the second game-deciding power-play goal in three nights by Ryan Kesler. Now the Predators face their first elimination game in this year's playoff run.

"I could give you coach talk and say we're never out of it, but I've seen it all year. I've seen it when our backs are against the wall. I've seen it in the playoffs," coach Barry Trotz said. "As our coaching staff calls it, we've been on death's door a couple of times. In the Anaheim series we were there (in Game 5) and found a way to come back and win. In Vancouver we were there (in Game 2). We find ways.

"We dug ourselves a hole, but we've been in a few holes this year."

Michael Andrew Fisher (born June 5, 1980) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is a member of the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League (NHL). He is known for his grittiness and two-way play, being nominated for the Selke Trophy in 2006 with the Ottawa Senators. At the beginning of the 2009–10 NHL season, he was named an alternate captain for the Senators. Daniel Sedin (born September 26, 1980) is a Swedish professional ice hockey winger with the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League (NHL), and serves as an alternate captain for the Canucks during home games. His identical twin brother Henrik also plays for the Canucks, and is the team captain. Born and raised in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, they have played together throughout their careers; the pair are known for their effectiveness playing off one another. Daniel began his professional career in the Swedish Elite League with Modo Hockey in 1997 and was co-recipient, with Henrik, of the 1999 Golden Puck as Swedish player of the year. Selected second overall by the Canucks in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Daniel moved to the NHL in the 2000–01 season. He has spent his entire NHL career in Vancouver, receiving three Cyrus H. McLean Trophies as the team's leading point-scorer in 2006–07, 2008–09 and 2010–11, as well as one Cyclone Taylor Award as the team's most valuable player in 2010–11. After emerging as a top player in the club during the 2005–06 season, he has since recorded six consecutive campaigns of at least 20 goals and 70 points.

Internationally, Daniel has competed for the Swedish national team. In addition to being a two-time Winter Olympian, he has appeared in two European Junior Championships, two World Junior Championships and four World Championships. He won a gold medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, and bronze medals at the 1999 and 2001 World Championships.

In a series that has see sawed back and forth, the Ducks will welcome star winger Bobby Ryan back into their line up as they host the Predators for Game 5 of their conference quarterfinal series -->

Team Scope:



Predators: Nashville fell behind 2-0 early in Game 4 before coming from behind twice in the second period to tie the game. But a sloppy finish saw the Ducks outshoot the Preds 13-3 in the third, scoring three goals in a 5:29 span, starting with Corey Perry’s shorthanded winner. The offensive outburst forced Barry Trotz to replace Rinne, the first time he has been chased from the crease since a Feb 7 loss to Edmonton, a span of 31 total starts.



"All game I thought we were making just major blunders," Trotz said. "Poor decisions … we didn't go back hard to get pucks. We were making poor decisions and were not real strong there. We turned over too many pucks by our forwards in the neutral zone."



Ducks: Three nights after coming back from an early 2-0 deficit in Game 3, the Ducks blew an early 2-0 lead of their own on Wednesday. Teemu Selanne's power-play tip-in momentarily gave the Ducks a 3-2 lead before Nashville's Matt Halischuk tied the game thanks to a perfect set-up from Kevin Klein. But the offensive outburst in the third sealed the game for Anaheim, with the usual suspects leading the way. After being shut out in Game 3 and posting a minus-3 rating, Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf responded with a goal and an assist in Game 4, including a dangling marker that effectively put the game away. With the series returning to Anaheim, the Ducks will welcome back Ryan, who served a two-game suspension after a kicking incident involving Jonathon Blum in Game 2.



"It's always nice when you get home ice advantage back and when you get one of your top guys back, too," Perry said. "It's nice to have him back and we've just got to be ready to play."
